Finishing Jewel Squares, part 3

November 30, 2009

The quilt top is FINISHED!

I cannot properly express how overjoyed I am about that fact. Not only am I glad to have Eleanor’s baby quilt done before she turns two (!), but I am also thrilled with how it turned out. I love the color and the variety of the squares. Do I wish it was a tad larger? Maybe, but I am not at all patient enough to turn this into a full sized quilt. If I did that, she’d have to wait for her wedding to get it!

This quilt has been on my “to do” list since I saw it on the cover of Glorious Patchwork five years ago.

I went from this:

To this:

Just in case you were wondering, you’re looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,799 pieces of fabric, give or take a few. Guess who is glad she didn’t count until she was finished? Wow. Just thinking about it makes me woozy.

It even has a nice little rear end…

Now I am off to sit and gaze at it for the rest of the evening.

I’ve just finished a quilt with 3000 pieces on it. It is queen sized and lives on my bed. I promise you, when you quilt this top and start using it, you’ll get a little thrill every time you walk into the room and see it. I know I do with mine!

Wow – I’m so impressed with this. KF is one of my all-time favs, and I’ve thought about making this quilt. Even your back looks awesome.

Any advice for someone who may start this pattern?
