Seeing Squares: Pretty in Pink

Finally! The pink quilt I promised a few posts back. This adorable quilt was made by Melissa, who tested the small version of the quilt for me. The only request I made was that she make it out of something pink and girly. I envisioned her making it and her cute daughter, Jenna, cuddling up with it. Melissa had her eye on the Sunkissed line by Sweetwater (Moda). She was so thorough… taking photos of her fabric combination choices and e-mailing back and forth with me until the final set of fabrics were picked. The pattern suggests fabrics with a range of values, with a mix of prints and solids. Melissa did just that!

Asking Angela to quilt four of the same quilt design meant I got to wonder about the results with extreme curiosity times four! This one is quilted in a fun flowery design, accenting different squares here and there with other stitching. I think it fits the fabric so well.

I promise I didn’t pay Melissa to say this, but here’s what she had to say about the pattern:

“Seeing Squares was by far the best pattern I’ve ever used. Shea’s directions were so concise with very clear illustrations and graphs. She gave some tips along the way that made it so simple to keep pieces organized while I was cutting and sewing. Shea’s method for building all of the squares was so fun and kept my seams easily matched up. I know I’ll use this pattern again and I can’t wait to see what other patterns she has up her sleeve!”

Having such fantastic testers like Melissa and Paula is truly what makes a pattern “ready.” I have a post coming up that gives more of my thoughts on pattern testing, so I’ll get to rave about Paula and Melissa some more!

The quilt pattern can be found in stores listed on the Patterns Info page.
