Quilt Market 2012 Recap

June 8, 2012

Months worth of work… and it was over in a flash!

I couldn’t be happier with how Spring Market went for me. Hearing store owners say, “We carry your patterns! We love them!” made all of the hard work worth it. “Incredibly blessed” would wrap it up quite nicely…

Including being blessed to have the handy help of my dad and husband and friend Jacquie to set up my booth:

(those walls are hinged plywood to make them easier to transport… I loved how well they worked!)

And blessed to have my husband [who is handsome, charming, helpful and supportive!] work in my booth with me all weekend:

He travels (a ton!) for work so we joked that this was the longest stretch of time we’d spent together in a while. Like a really long date where you stand for days on end. Ha!

I was lucky to have many of my testers’ samples to loan out for display. Here is Melissa’s Home Sweet Home pillow in the United Notions booth. (Check out my friend Carrie’s adorable pillow in the upper left! It’s from her Giggle & Squeak pattern. Totally making the boy version for my son’s big bed!)

I made an Advent Activity Calendar for the United Notions booth, too, using the alternate font in the pattern:

And Alex’s test version of the advent calendar was in the Brewer booth:

The Bleachers quilt on the wall in my booth got a lot of attention! (Including the attention of David Butler, who designed the fabric….and happened to come by during the one five minute span when I wasn’t in my booth!) Angela had to pose for a photo with her design:

But, all good things must come to an (exhausting) end. A mere twenty minutes after the show floor closed Sunday, the booth looked like this:

And thirty minutes later, it was over. Those are exhausted and deliriously happy grins you see here. (And we were even more happy that our journey home took a short twenty minutes!) Seeing our two kids was a great way to end the weekend. They’d spent the weekend with my parents and my husbands parents, which puts me in their debt for a long time!

Thank you to all of the store owners who visited my booth. It was a busy, busy whirlwind and I LOVED getting to meet each and every one of you.

        Hi,

Can you send me that same email, too? It seems super expensive to do foam walls, and yours looks much more elegant!

Hi Shea! I came across your blog searching for booth ideas. I have my first show coming up in january. I love the way your wall came out, very nice! Please also email me info as to how it was all set up and done. I am not a crafty/construction person, so any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much and your time is much appreciated.
