Introducing: Busy City & Pixel Pop!
Today I am sharing the two newest patterns in the Empty Bobbin Sewing Studio lineup: Busy City & Pixel Pop! I’ll be sharing more in detail about each of these later this week, too. Both patterns are crisscrossing the country headed to stores now. You can find them right now at Pink Chalk Fabrics, Superbuzzy, Hyggeligt Fabrics in Canada and here in Kansas City at Bernina on Metcalf. If you are a store, both are available for wholesale order directly from me (firstname.lastname@example.org) or from your favorite distributor.
First up, Busy City.
Busy City is designed by Alex Ledgerwood of Teaginny Designs. If you’ve ever hunted for the perfect thing to sew for a young boy, look no more! Busy City is based on Alex’s popular quilt from a couple of years ago. She pieced that one using improv piecing but, since she is a clever one, she turned this one into paper piecing templates for the pattern. All 35 of the templates come as full sized printable templates on a CD included in the pattern!
As an added bonus, we gave an additional block size option for a larger block and included the enlarged blocks on the CD, too! You can see the difference in the block sizes by comparing the tow truck on the pillow to the tow truck just above it on the quilt.
The pattern booklet includes instructions to make the main quilt, a baby quilt that features five blocks and a pillow featuring one block. Throw in the option for the enlarged blocks and this is like getting six patterns in one! Look for more detail about this quilt Wednesday.
Now, Pixel Pop!
Pixel Pop is designed by Jessica Levitt of Juicy Bits. You may know of Jessica’s excellent book Modern Mix or her fabric lines with Windham Fabrics. She designed Pixel Pop to showcase snippets of precious fabrics. We’ve all got those, right? Charm packs can also be used for the pops of color.
Jessica designed this quilt to be made in two sizes and I’ll share photographs of the test samples and tell more about this pattern on Friday! You’ll love the pieced backing option Jessica designed for this quilt, too.
Can’t wait to get your hands on one of these? Click on over to Pink Chalk… Kathy has them in stock right now!
On behalf of Jessica and Alex, we are thrilled to publish these quilt designs for you. We hope you’ll enjoy crafting something for a little boy with Busy City or showcasing your favorite scraps in Pixel Pop!
