Last year, I wrote about my sewing-as-nesting phase just before Rhett was born. I made Christmas pajamas for our three kids and our two nieces and nephew. The kids were so cute together in their PJs and I knew then that a new tradition had been born.
Fast forward to this year’s set of pajamas! When I saw Pink Chalk Fabrics post about the Mammoth flannel from Robert Kaufman, I knew it would make the perfect material for the pants. I used the Oliver + S Sleepover Pajama pattern and paired the pants with some simple Hanes and Circo (Target) love sleeved tees.
The Mammoth flannel is incredibly thick and cozy, especially after it is washed and dried. You really need to feel it to understand how great it is. (and you really want to prewash it as it does shrink more than regular quilting cotton)
Having kids who appreciate a handmade gift is so wonderful. Their genuine excitement and sincere “thank you” feels so great after all that sewing. I’m so excited to make PJs for this cute bunch of cousins each year!
